Reflection

I was mostly trying to aim for a spread with a collaged feel to it, with doodles and more playful typefaces. I also tried playing around with white space for this project, since I wanted to explore and learn more of that aspect for my layouts. The hardest part of the project was trying to get a sense of flow/rhythm for the many elements of the spread; to maintain that balance of white space. And even towards the end of the assignment, I was still struggling with that balancing act.  As I was working on this assignment, I suppose I was too carefree and didn’t stop to analyse objectively the strengths and weaknesses in my work. Consequently, I didn’t do too well on this, although I did manage to get constructive criticism and feedback from my lecturers. For example, the typeface point size was too big, and the text and images were too cluttered (not enough contrast). The downloaded font I used for the headline was also not suitable.

I’ve since wrote each feedback down for future reference, and carried those lessons with me to the next assignment.
