Assignment 1 Submission

Lectures/Tutorials:
No lectures or tutorials this week as we were busy preparing our Assignment 1 submissions. We were also given two presentation questions about Motion Graphics and Animation to present in class. My group and I did fairly well for our presentation. Our points were concise and informative, and the art direction for the presentation slides were (mostly) consistent. However, the lecturers suggested we cut down the amount of words on our slides and give more emphasis on the visuals. Think fullscreen videos, gifs, impactful text.

"What is the art of motion graphics and how is it used?"

"What types of animation are there in the industry? How influential is animation content?"

Assignment Submission:
We had our first assignment submission this week and we could all breathe a little bit more. I think I managed to achieve a whimsical, vintage feel with the movie poster. I also found the AR interactivity element interesting, as it opened up a lot more possibilities for my future projects. When scanned with the Zappar app, audiences can access the teaser trailer for the movie. Certainly there were areas for improvement, but the same can be said for every project I have and will ever take on. A reminder to myself that it's much more productive (and meaningful) to learn from mistakes and strive to be better next time.

Voltaire once said that "We're neither pure, nor wise, nor good; we do the best we know." Well, I've been making a lot of mistakes recently, both inside and outside of class. I've always thought that if I messed up, my mistakes will define me forever. And there are a lot of ugly feelings that come with this sort of thinking. So now I'm trying to make sure I actually learn from them, rather than obsess over them (which might cause more hurt). Pardon the yucky self-reflection but I'll end this with my favourite Maya Angelou quote (this post already has two quotes oh god there's no turning back now).

"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
